After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up at your guesthouse around 08.30 and take you to your car.

A 30-minute drive will take you to Batu Katak, a small village along the Berkail river. Located 18 km from Bukit Lawang and 8 km from Bohorok. Batu Katak is a new ecotourism area where the Karo tribe preserves the environment and shows locals and foreigners how to live in harmony with nature.

Enter the Batu Katak forest and start walking while listening to the sound of Siamang in the morning. Discover the natural beauty of Batu Katak: walk across the river, see caves and large rocks, cross rubber plantations and dense forests.

Follow your local guide from Batu Katak, he knows where to find the flowers! You will pass through various places in the forest to find the tallest flower in the world, Amorphophallus Titanum. Stand where it is and realize how big it is! You will also find the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia flower and you will remember its smell forever… Don’t hesitate to ask your guide, he will explain everything about the blooming process of this very rare flower! If there are no flowers in bloom, we still recommend you to visit Batu Katak. You will take a day trip and explore caves and enjoy relaxing time at a beautiful waterfall in the forest and swimming there.

In the afternoon, you will stop in the forest or by the river (depending on the location of the flower) for lunch! Enjoy delicious fried rice and some tropical fruits. After that, you will continue your journey through the rainforest to see more flowers or see wildlife. At Batu Katak, you will have a great chance to see the White-handed Siamang, the Siamangs, and maybe even the Reclining Orangutan. If you don’t see the siamang or the siamang, you will definitely hear their amazing chirping!

Before leaving, take a swim in the beautiful Berkail River or relax by the river! Your car will pick you up and take you back to Bukit Lawang. You will return to the guesthouse around 4:00 or 5:00 pm.
